Very enjoyable, thank you. There were one or two I couldn’t parse (one was CHAINSAW), resulting in a “D’oh” or two when I came here. I didn’t know there were green herons, nor had I heard of ROTATORY — wouldn’t rotary do the same job?
Yes, this was a fine puzzle with a good Spoonerism, lovely anagrams and fine surfaces.
I liked STRAW-COLOURED, RELATIONSHIPS, AUSTRALIAN and FARAGE.
There’s a small slip, Teacow – 25a needs the ‘i’ tucked into ‘a porridge’ to form PRAIRIE DOG.

Same two nho’s as GDU – though the WP got me there, as it eventually did with CHAINSAW. I think SNIPER is designed as an &lit; otherwise the Rifleman is doing double duty. Very nice anagram spot for RELATIONSHIPS.

Quite a few clues linked to world politics! Putin, Trump, FARAGE and of course the OLD MAN that neatly describes almost every world LEADER today.
A steady workout for us today. We couldn’t see the parsing for GREEN HERON (thinking ‘horse’ was just ‘H’) or CHAINSAW although they couldn’t be anything else. And we thought it a little unfortunate that ‘cops’ occurred in two clues (12ac and 20ac), not that was any problem.

Quite hard this, a bit fiddly in parts. I presume Trump is the theme. We had buddies Farage and Putin, thug, leader, Elon’s chainsaw, the sniper, man drill baby drill and straw coloured hair. Not sure about the root beer.
