Accidentally hit Enter there. Clue of the day was CLIMAX which was marvellously misleading.
Thanks Lorraine and Everyman. It is a depressing commentary on the state of affairs in Russia that Mr Putin can turn up in a crossword clue as “Russian leader” three years after relinquishing the presidency. Very few would argue with Everyman’s description, although one suspects Dmitry Medvedev might. “Batman and Robin,” as the US embassy referred to the Putin/Medvedev relationship, according to Wikileaks.

TIRAMISU, CRIES WOLF and RASPUTIN were the ones I liked today. SIMOOM is one of those words where you think ‘that can’t exist’, but of course it does – a new word learnt.
