  1. Usual, clear clueing. Thanks, Lorraine for a nice blog ๐Ÿ™‚ ; I liked your links. I, too, had to check SIMOOM.

  2. Thanks Lorraine,

As you say, nothing too taxing. Among(st) many good clues, I particularly liked NOMINATE, RED FOX, STAGE FRIGHT

  3. Thanks Lorraine and Everyman. It is a depressing commentary on the state of affairs in Russia that Mr Putin can turn up in a crossword clue as “Russian leader” three years after relinquishing the presidency. Very few would argue with Everyman’s description, although one suspects Dmitry Medvedev might. “Batman and Robin,” as the US embassy referred to the Putin/Medvedev relationship, according to Wikileaks.

  4. Thanks Lorraine, for your usual clear and precise blog. I’m reminded of some excellent clues here, providing an enjoyable solve.

Just one thing: Rio is not the capital of Brazil ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks as ever to Everyman. Now to see what he has to offer this week.

  5. Very pleasing Everyman, a straightforward puzzle with lots of devices.

TIRAMISU, CRIES WOLF and RASPUTIN were the ones I liked today. SIMOOM is one of those words where you think ‘that can’t exist’, but of course it does – a new word learnt.

    Thank you for blogging, Lorraine.

  6. Fairly straightforward, although I had to look up SIMOOM, and I had forgotten about NO SIDE- a long time since I played Rugby at school. Clue of the puzzle- CLIMAX
