    Hi flashling,

PORGY AND BESS is just a simple anagram of ‘spread by song’ …… 🙂 [or 🙁 ?]

So it is, thanks Sil, brain dead today, I knew I should have written this up last week 🙂

    Thanks, flashling.

It took me some moments to figure out the wordplay for 14a as well, although it was obvious once I saw it. It’s amazing how puzzling simple anagrams can be.

I hadn’t seen the wordplay in 8d before. I thought that was excellent.

All in all an easy puzzle. Thanks, Glow-worm, for the entertainment.

  4. Thanks, Glow-worm and flashling. Yes, I enjoyed this too and found it fairly easy by Indy standards. My favourite clues were 8d as mentioned by caretman and 16d with its very amusing surface reading.

Worth pointing out that 1a Summertime features in 14a Porgy and Bess.
