As we come to the end of another year …

… I would like to extend my thanks to all those involved with Fifteensquared and to the crossword community in general.

Firstly a big thank you to the Fifteensquared team members who, during the past twelve months, have taken time out of their busy schedules to post blogs so that other solvers could gain an insight into any answers and/or parsings that they had been unable to unravel and hopefully learn from the experience.

Also, my thanks to all those who have contributed to the site by adding comments. Please continue to do so so that we can have a cross-section of views and opinions. A particular thank you for maintaining a generally friendly atmosphere which makes my job as administrator/moderator so much easier.

Finally I would like to thank all the setters, and their crossword editors, without whom we would not have had the many hours of enjoyment (with perhaps a few niggles along the way) that their puzzles have provided during the past year. I’m sure you will keep up the good work by giving us yet more challenges in the year to come.

A Happy New Year, and every cruciverbal success, to all bloggers, commenters, lurkers, setters and solvers everywhere.

  1. And, of course, thanks to you Gaufrid for all your hard work in maintaining the very high standards of this site. I echo your thanks to all the bloggers who patiently explain the mysteries of the crosswords……

    Happy New Year

  2. Thanks indeed to Gaufrid for looking after us all this year.

Visiting 225 far more often than I ought to have done has certainly improved my solving over the last twelve months, but more importantly it’s been a pleasure to read and contribute to the discussions. The three essential elements of the site for me are intelligence, humour and politeness, and I look forward to some more of that next year.

  3. As one of the lurkers who enjoy this site so much for its intelligent, civilised and kind approach to both setters and solvers, I come out from behind the curtain and say well done to you all and thanks.
    Happy New Year

  4. Discovering this site has, for me, transformed a solitary habit into a sense of participation in an active community of solvers and setters. A big thank-you from me to all contributors to 15 squared.

  5. Many thanks to Gaufrid and the pool of bloggers. Many is the time you have illuminated for me those cases where I say I’m sure the answer is xxx but why?

I also thank Gaufrid for the times when the appointed blogger has gone AWOL and you have stepped in and supplied the answers, presumably at very short notice!

  6. Happy New Year to all at fifteensquared! And special thanks to Gaufrid for keeping the site running so smoothly.

  7. A Very Happy and Successful New Year to all, and especially to Gaufrid, whose contribution – a lot of it happening behind-the-scenes – has been essential to 15sq.

  8. My sentiments, too, but expressed so much more elegantly than I would have managed – thank you, Gaufrid.

  9. As a frequent reader but rare contributor on this excellent site, thanks for all the insight you have given me over the past year.
A happy new year to all.

  10. Another year gone by.

There are three things I would like to say here:
    – Happy New Year to everyone
    – Apologies to Gaufrid because I messed up the FT archive this year by deleting some of my blogs (including Gaff’s Swan Upping puzzle, much to my regret)
    – Gaufrid, you are a star! Yes, you are!
