A reasonably straightforward Azed this week, with no particular problems (except one!) and a very friendly grid (only 2 unches in an 11 letter word).  The problem is 10 across, which refers to Moby-Dick, but in a way equally as obscure (to me, anyway) as that great novel can be.  Suggestions please.  Here’s a link to the pdf of the puzzle as printed.

10 QUOTA-HOPPER I can’t adequately explain this. It looks like an anagram of “Pequo(d) hero up”, but that doesn’t work, because there’s an e and a u left over, and no a or t. Either Azed’s dropped a clanger, or else I’ve missed something.
12 BUNG Triple definition.
13 GROOVE 0 in GROVE.
14 LA-DI-DA L(ine), ADIDA(s). Reminds me of Diane Keaton in Annie Hall.
16 ALINES A-lineS. A-line is in Chambers, in the very first entry in the dictionary, under A.

    10 across, I vote clanger. Or more charitably, a work in progress.

    My guess at the time was that 10ac. was at one stage going to be QUEUE-HOPPER, and the clue somehow didn’t quite catch up with the change. But there isn’t a word queue-hopper in Chambers, so that theory doesn’t seem to work.

    I thought this was more enjoyable than an average Azed.
    The definition in 10ac was so specific for ‘quotahopper’ that I did not check the cryptic! I cannot see any way round it now.
