This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help provide a better user experience. There are three varieties of cookies used on this site, one for a visitor who adds a comment to a post, one for members of the team who log-in to publish a post and one for all visitors who elect to accept cookies (and thus get rid of the cookie notification box at the bottom of the screen).
In the case of a visitor who adds a comment and who has selected the ‘Remember me’ option, the information stored on your machine is your name and email address. This is purely a convenience so that you won’t need to re-type your information again when you want to leave another comment. These cookies are set to expire one year from the time they are created.
For those who log-in to the site, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in several cookies are stored: your user name, a double-hashed copy of your password and details of any customisation you have made to your admin interface. The login cookies are set to expire two days from the time they are created unless the ‘Remember Me’ option has been selected when they will expire after two weeks. If you log out of your account the login cookies will be removed. The customisation cookie will expire after one year. If you edit or publish a post, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the ID of the post you just edited. It expires after one day.
For all visitors, a cookie will be added if/when you click the ‘Accept’ button in the cookie notification box. This is solely to prevent the box from being displayed on subsequent visits to the site. This cookie is set to expire 30 days from the time it was created.
As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. For further information about disabling cookies consult the Help section of your browser or take a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.
