Another great fun challenge:
1) Chorizo sausage, cured using sodium NITRITE?
2) A picture of two look-alike drugs, one which was mistaken for the other, a mistake an INTERNEE could easily make?
No sure yet how the Beano and the diagram of a factorial process fits into the clues and solutions
#5 – the lower figures are factorial n – indicated by n! – so EXCLAMATION MARK
#2 shows Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre with Fidel Castro – they’re both French and they have heads – so maybe TETE-A-TETE – or maybe something to do with MEDICINE (MAN) but I can’t make a solid link.
Freddy and JollySwagman, you’re right about NITRITE and EXCLAMATION MARK.
You’re on the right track for pic4 (not INTERNEE), and just a step away with pic2.
OK, so JP Sartre ENDORSEd Communism, and the drug labelling APPEARed to be the same
Freddy and JollySwagman, the answers:
Pic2: de Beauvoir and Sartre were the subjects of the biography “TETE-A-TETE”
Pic3: RASHER, seen at the bottom right corner of the Beano cover, was Dennis the Menace’s pig
Pic4: Examples of SALAD – Sound Alike and Look Alike Drugs.
OK – #2 is TETE-A-TETE – not for the frivolous reason I previously gave – it’s the title of a biography of S de B and J-P S.
Oops – beaten by the bell – intervening time is how long it took me to do Picaroon in the Guardian.
Beaten by the others – thanks scchua.
