  1. Pic.1 Before Fosbury, highjumpers would often use the scissors technique, though in my day one landed in a grotty sand pit father than on a blue mat.

Pic. 5 I’m pretty sure shows the wedding of Tiny Tim to his very young bride. Tim famously recorded ‘Tiptoe Through the Tulips’.

  2. Are the people in Pic 2 merchant bankers? They look more like air traffic controllers!

btw I’m not seeing Pic 4

  3. #1 High jump – connection to NIAGARA?
#2 MERCHANT BANKERS looking at their screens
    #3 NOT VISIBLE
#4 Quadrillion yen – Japanese debt following the CREDIT CRUNCH
#5 Tilda Swinton – appears in Prince CASPIAN
#6 Ringo Starr & Barbara Bach, plus two others??
#7 Napa Valley for wine TASTING?
#8 Frankie Howerd & Max Bygraves
#9 The girl in Prince CASPIAN

  4. Penultimate picture looks like Mike Winters on the left (not sure whether the other is Bernie). The ptarmigan has white plumage only in the winter.
(One picture frame is blank: is that deliberate, or has one failed to load?

  5. Rats for being beaten to scissors kick and Tiptoe Through the Tulips. #2, though is a picture of MERCHANT BANKERS, no doubt, and #3 is perhaps an illustration of the Japanese asset price bubble, an offshoot of the CREDIT CRUNCH. #4 is Tilda Swinton, who was in the Chronicles of Narnia, Prince CASPIAN.

  6. @8. Ignore the comment about Mike Winters, Robi is right, of course, it is Max Bygraves and Frankie Howerd, but I have yet to connect the picture with the puzzle.

  7. ‘Allo ‘allo, #10 has popped up.

Ewan McGregor – appeared in ‘The Island’ with CASPIAN Tredwell-Owen as screen writer – is that too tenuous?

  8. 4 right so far:

    Pic1: SCISSORS high jump technique
Pic5: Tilda Swinton acted in the Chronicles of Narnia, which include the character, Prince CASPIAN
Pic6: Who could forget Tiny Tim’s Tiptoe Through The TULIPS?
Pic9: Georgie Henley as Lucy in the Chronicles of Narnia, Prince CASPIAN.

Pic2: More financial traders than bankers. I’ve added Pic10 as a clue to Pic2.
Pic3: A quadrillion yen, though the link is not financial.
    Pic7: Not the end product.
Pic8: Max Bygraves and Frankie Howerd.

I’ve reloaded Pic4, and also the link back to the other blog.

  9. We crossed Robi, you’re of course right about Monroe and Cotton/NIAGARA, and Bygraves/TULIPS From Amsterdam.

  10. Gosh — checking back in, I see two pictures that weren’t there before, but they seem to have been identified. Surely rogue traders contributed to the CREDIT CRUNCH.

If the yen are not financial, they must be linked to UMAMI (by way of Japan).

  11. Hi all, I’ve posted links to the remaining answers under the pictures, so that you can refer to them at your leisure.
