(Please post comments on ONLY the picture quiz hereinbelow. To post comments on the crossword puzzle, please click here.) Definitely not a write-in, in fact, one to warm up with for the Prize puzzle. Thanks to Philistine. Definitions are underlined in the clues.
The answers defined as “… 10” or “.. presumably” are proper words whose starting letters are prefixes that denote a negative meaning, like “de-“, with such “prefixes” deleted to yield their antonyms, presumably. Such “antonyms” could be in proper or rare usage, or just whimsies.

The following pictures have unidentified links to the puzzle.
(Please post comments on ONLY the picture quiz hereinbelow. To post comments on the crossword puzzle, please click here.)
Well, pic 6 isn’t the KEMPTon rececourse, just checked
Pic 3 is Andrea Bocelli the tenor, but I don’t recognise the woman
#3 – Andrea Bocelli is TUSCAN
Pic #5 – the leftmost couple is Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner – tempted by AVATAR but can’t make the full connection.
Andrea Bocelli is TUSCAN
#1 are stamps – CACHET can mean a stamp.
Is the guy on the right in #2 a very young Bob Dylan?
#3 is certaily Bocelli, and Sarah Brightman. Only link (other than Tuscan) I can think of is OPERA.
Andreas’s hair is SHEVELED, not sure about Sarah’s
Pic 6, the racehorses are going to arrive IN A SECOND
#2 – I’ll say it is Bob Dylan (no idea who the others are) – it’s from around 1965 (when he toured the UK) and when he recorded Subterranean HOMESICK Blues
#4 is Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss – they did at least one film together – maybe we only need one of them – PLUM is the nickname of P G Wodehouse – maybe there’s a film adaptation of one of his works with one or both of them in it – but I can’t find one and I’ve nearly worm out my google trying.
Help! Scchua – where are you?
He’s bathing his corns in a footbath
Richard Dreyfuss played Matt Hooper in Jaws – he wasn’t cast in Jaws 2 (his agent must have asked for too much dosh) so they made out that the Hooper character was away in ALASKA.
Pic 2 is Cher, Sonny and Dylan – a google discovered that it was Atlantic Studios 1965
Pic 3, Bocelli and Brightman, are singing “Time to say goodbye”. Does this help anyone?
Pic 5 is Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh
Shirl @14 perhaps HOMESICK
Maybe, Cookie. Pic 5 Manchurian CANDIDATE starred Sinatra and Leigh
scchua’s corns must be being really troublesome today…
Pic 2 Dylan Subterranean HOMESICK blues?
Sorry, Sonny and Cher (thought the former was funny when I was 8 but never saw the point of the latter) and Murray and Dreyfuss were the only ones I could recognise from the tiny pictures. But that’s as far as I can get.
Assuming it is Sinatra in 5 (as it must be), then Shirl @7 must be right with the Manchurian CANDIDATE.
There is an AVATAR who has something to do with betting at horse races, and several famous race horses named AVATAR
Hi all,
Cookie@1: It is a racecourse as is KEMPTon Park
JollySwagman@3: Andrea Bocelli (shown with Sarah Brightman) is TUSCAN
JollySwagman@5: CACHET is a stamp, but not a postage stamp (half a mark here)
JollySwagman@9: Bob Dylan (shown with Sonny and CHer) wrote and sang Subterranean HOMESICK Blues
Shirl@17: Leigh and Sinatra (shown with spouses) were in The Manchurian CANDIDATE
JollySwagman: That’s Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss, but which one?
The Murray/Dreyfuss film is “What About Bob”. Err…. That’s it
…and sorry to the Swagman @9 for copying his Dylan answer @20 – I didn’t notice his answer
JollySwagman @3 got in Andrea Bocelli is TUSCAN before my answer came up @4.
Sorry, Cookie and JollySwagman. My note has been edited accordingly.
Shirl @23, that film sounds great, do you think AVATAR might fit in somehow?
Bob seems to be TRAUGHT in the film while Dr Marvin is distraught.
Frank Sinatra was in the Rat Pack so does that make him a Pac Man?
pic 4: Richard Dreyfuss was in Mr Holland’s OPUS ??
Some people have been comparing Bill Murray’s most recent movie (St. Vincent)
with Mr. Holland’s Opus. Would this account for OPUSES?
pic 1: Postage stamps, what mail requires to be DELIVERed ??
Got it, Fredddy@30 (Jose@31, the “-es” was dropped from OPUSes).
Pic1: For philatelists, a CACHET is a commemorative design stamped on an envelope to mark a postal or philetalic event.
Thanks all, for participating.
Thanks scchua for all the fun.
Many thanks scchua.
