  1. More like an easy Monday puzzle than some we’ve had recently, imho; some answers were almost write-ins but there were others that required a bit of thought. 10ac was one of my last ones in; I had —-PIT right from the start and thought it must be CESSPIT, but couldn’t see how to parse it. (Btw the blog has CESSPOOL as the answer although the parsing’s correct). CALCULUS was my CoD.

    Thanks, eXternal and NealH.

  2. eXternal 2-0 Kathryn’s Dad today. I failed on HEPTAGON and BURBLE (putting in PENTAGON and MUMBLE even though they didn’t parse, just for the pleasure of having a filled grid).

I liked GEORGIE PORGIE today for its pleasing memory of a nursery rhyme that I haven’t heard for years and years. And thanks to Neal for parsing CALCULUS.

  3. Thanks for parsing 6d – we can see how it now works although it seems a little forced in our humble opinion. We often find that there are a few clues that are written in from the definition and/or enumeration before parsing but today there were more than usual.

Thanks eXternal for a good start to the week.

Thanks again for the blog NealH.
