A welcome return for Fed after a couple of months’ absence. After yesterday’s puzzle from Paul I hope this will prove less controversial, though it was no less tricky, with a couple of very ingenious constructions. Many thanks to Fed
Andrew
Guardian 29,821 – Paul
The scheduled blogger is not available, so here’s a very quick write-up of today’s puzzle, for which thanks to Paul.
Guardian 29,815 – Maskarade
Quite an easy one today, though there are a couple of names that may have beeen unfamiliar to some. Thanks to Maskarade.
Guardian 29,808 – Harpo
I made a slow start on this, and a not much faster finish. Thanks to Harpo for the challenge.
Guardian 29,801 – Paul
Another Paul puzzle on the easier side, where I was helped by getting the two long down answers early on. Thanks to Paul
Guardian 29,794 – Vulcan
For some reason I found this a bit trickier than usual for this setter, but it all came out in the end. Thanks to Vulcan
Gemelo 7
Gemelo seems to be settling nicely into the Sunday slot. His puzzles have a bit of a different feel to Azed’s (in a way that’s hard to put my finger on) but are enjoyable and well constructed nonetheless, so thanks to him for this one.
Guardian 29,792 – Paul
I found this rather easier than some Paul puzzles have been of late, though there were a couple of bits of tricky parsing even when the answer was clear. Thanks to Paul.
Guardian Genius 266 – Claw
The special instructions are slightly mysterious, though with enough information to get us started:
Guardian 29,785 – Tramp
Thanks to Tramp for a fun puzzle with some typically inventive clues, including a couple of nice anagrams.
I was short of time for the blog this morning, so please excuse any (inevitable) errors and omissions.
Guardian 29,778 – Yank
I found this quite hard to get into, and some clues took me a while to parse even when I had the answer. Unsurprisingly there are a few American references that may be unfamiliar. Thanks to Yank for the puzzle,
Guardian 29,771 – Brummie
Thanks to Brummie for a fun puzzle…
Guardian 29,764 – Harpo
Harpo is known as Monk in other places, where he is usually quite a fearsome setter, but here he is in Monday mode, though with a couple of quite tricky parsings. The double six-letter answers in the four corners add a nice touch of symmetry. Thanks to Harpo.
Guardian 29,762 – Brockwell
An ingenious puzzle from Brockwell today…
Gemelo 2
Gemelo’s second puzzle continues to show his promise as a (partial) successor for Azed.
