A Cruxword that will not disappoint his admirers.
OK, one more then! Especially for the event, Alchemi (Independent/FT) wrote a celebratory crossword titled ‘Happy Birthday’. The PDF can be found here: Alchemi @ Cambridge . It is also possible to solve this puzzle interactively by clicking here. Which is, by the way, a good excuse for visiting Alchemi’s excellent Alchemiland website!
Following puzzles by Ballard, Mitz, Dalibor and Neil, the latter’s second puzzle – an alphabetical – will be the final Cambridge blog. For those who still want to give it a go, click here: Neil 2 @ Cambridge .
One more blog from last Saturday’s S&B: Neil @ Cambridge. A crossword that’s themed but not around the Cambridge event.
Dalibor’s puzzle for the day can be found here: Dalibor @ Cambridge and featured a double mini theme built around 10 across.
This puzzle which can be found here: Ballard @ Cambridge , is a joint effort of Serpent (aka Skipjack) and Gervase. The first letters of their real names lead to J.G. , hence Ballard.
For those who still want to give it a go, the crossword by Mitz can be found here: Mitz @ Cambridge . It is a puzzle with some cross references, also one that reminds us of the fact that there’s an election coming up soon.

I did this puzzle the Day After (… the Cambridge S&B). Either it was that or the fact that I solved only Independent crosswords the week before, but I thought this was perhaps as hard as Dante / Rufus can get. An unusual grid too – no less than eight words with 10+ letters.
At the Cambridge S&B several crosswords were handed out, some of these especially written for the occasion.
I decided once more to blog these puzzles, in a neutral way (without giving a personal view) and based on the setters’ own explanations.
So, don’t be surprised to see some new names crawling around the familiar ones.
Any feedback will be very much appreciated.
Many thanks to all who made the first Cambridge S&B such a success.
And by ‘all’ we do not mean ourselves as the organisers but really everyone who was there on Saturday.

An enjoyable exercise by Falcon, mostly rather easy although the SE needed some extra thinking. Falcon’s crosswords nearly always contain one or two cultural references (esp. novels and films), today he went for music.

Just as I thought the FT doesn’t see daylight on Easter Monday, there was a Monday Prize Crossword which only appeared at the very end of the day on the newspaper’s website. I don’t like stereotyping but this Dante puzzle was indeed full of cryptic and double definitions – no less than 8 of the latter!

An enjoyable puzzle with Crux back in the saddle.

On the whole a Dante puzzle as we expect it to be. Easy, especially the right hand side, but pleasant.
Less than four three two weeks to go!
So, time for a reminder that there will be a Sloggers & Betters event in Cambridge on Saturday 25 April.
The venue is The Castle Inn, 38 Castle Street, Cambridge CB3 0AJ

The pub will open its doors at 11.30am and from twelve o’clock onwards the complete first floor (including roof terrace) will be ours, with space for around 60 people.
