In my last turn blogging the Private Eye crossword I was lamenting the omission of a certain Man Formerly Titled As Prince. While the news cycle is currently focussed elsewhere, Mr M-W did make an appearance this time which certainly gave me a chuckle.
A quick trawl through my posts confirms this is the first time I have blogged a Fed puzzle…a.k.a. Bluth in the Indy and the comedian Dave Gorman in real life (not that crossword-setting isn’t real life!…)
Dave Hennings’ Crossword Database tells us that this will be Karla’s sixth Listener crossword. He challenges and entertains us too in the Magpie, EV and IQ series.

“In each of 12 clues an extra word must be removed; these words define the theme. A further 12 clues each have a letter missing; these letters suggest how to derive the exact wording of the theme – which must be written below the grid – from CROSS WORDS. Answers to the remaining 12 clues “clash” in 6 cells; entering the correct letter in each affected cell will display a symmetrical representation of the theme (24 cells in total), which must be highlighted. Chambers Dictionary (2016) is recommended.”
