Thanks to Vulcan for a Bank Holiday quickie.
I found this an absolute pleasure to solve – nothing too taxing on the old grey cells, but with a really delightful economy of cluing, along with a great deal of wit.

This is new ground for me. I don’t think I’ve ever attempted a cryptic of this size before and I’ve only done the FT a few times when I’ve found copies of the newspaper lying about on trains.

It’s always good to see Brendan’s name on a puzzle, especially when it’s a Prize one.
We meet Paddock in a range of crosswords, Paddock in the Listener, Phylax in the Magpie, Ranunculus in the EV, Triton, and Phibs as the EV blogger (I hope I’ve got those right) so we know we are in the hands of an expert.
According to the Crossword Database (which is operational again after some heavy bot traffic recently), there have been seven puzzles where a certain board game has featured, two of them Listeners. (Spoiler alert, this is the eighth/third.)
