Thanks also to Cryptic Sue for being and early bird and spotting this morning that I had inadvertently posted a blog for yesterday’s puzzle by mistake.
Enjoyed this – a lot of neat constructions and some sneaky definitions. The online Special instructions mentioning a correction to the clue for 9 down also brought a smile [9 across now reads “worthy committees”]. Favourites were 3dn and 13dn. Thanks to Nutmeg.
Just seeing that we had an Eccles to blog today raised a smile and the solve didn’t disappoint.

A tougher than usual Genius for January, employing a device that I don’t recall seeing before.
I only remembered that I was due to blog this puzzle on Saturday evening, having solved one clue on Sunday and then having put the puzzle aside. Panic stations!
