Independent on Sunday 1067 by Quixote – 25 July 2010

We are proud to say that we raced through this one, and although we didn’t time ourselves, we had only drunk half of our pints before finishing it!

We really enjoyed this one, particularly 16 down, which was a great example of misdirection.

  1. Thanks for the blog, Handel. I found this tricky in placeS and first toyed with SHARON before settling on MARION. My favourite clue was PLUG.

  2. A pretty swift solve for me too, perhaps pausing only to wonder about GLANCE, and to wonder whether “adit” might be a word. It’s reassuring to find that I’m not the only one!

  3. Thanks Quixote.Finished in less than half an hour. After Ninrod and Anax I’m glad this puzzle came along! Favourite clue 14d
