Azed 2145

A plain Azed puzzle today, with no tricks or clue adjustments.

I found this to be a fairly standard Azed.  I am not 100% sure about the parsing of 3 down PESO, but I happy with the others.

Azed always strikes me a giving a master class in cluing showing that the principles of good clue writing apply equally well to the cluing and use of less well known words and component parts.

As ever, Azed assumes a good range of general knowledge, both ancient and modern.  We have Phoenician characters, martial arts film stars, alternative rock bands, biology, drama and sports amongst the clues in this puzzle.

  1. Thank you for explaining RECYCLATE and PESO (I think your analysis is correct. I enjoyed the puzzle.

  2. I agree with your parsing of PESO. Azed does have a habit of making the most difficult clues for the shortest answers.

LINK is also a name for a sausage, another nice twist.
