Found this enjoyable & reasonably easy; thank you Pssthpok. Needed help with the parsing of 4d, so thanks for that, scchua.
This is a fantastic puzzle, SEESAWING, HARD BOILED EGGS, IRASCIBLE, CHOIR and so may other terrific clues.
Thank you Phssthpok, a shame so many people are still on holiday, and thank you scchua for the super blog.
Thanks Phssthpok and scchua
Like this setter and found this puzzle quite straightforward until coming to a bit of a sting in the tail mainly in the top right with OVERGROWN, A FORTIORI and YANKEES. The very clever TARDIS was last in.
Liked DECRYPT after originally going down a ‘lachryma’ path.
Great stuff – found this about right for a weekday solve over a night-time bowl of cereal!
Although, I did get stuck on A FORTIORI, never having heard it before and not connecting ‘Worth’ with ‘fort’ (actually connected it with ‘Harry’, which was no good!).
Loved the way ‘doctor who’ was actually in the clue of 9dn.
Thanks both.
Thanks scchua and Phssthpok.
A couple of tough clues in here. I completely failed to see the (Fort) Worth link so thanks for the explanation.
I remained iffy about ‘wing’ for ‘supplement’ throughout and failed on 21dn opting for ‘Rudish’ on the basis of ‘raw’ humour and ground ‘meal’ maybe being ‘rude’ as in not refined. It’s 16ac now that Radish is the right answer – doh!
On the plus side, I thought 1ac was a really good anagram and 29ac was a simple but clever clue.
My new word of the day was ‘Sabra’ – but clearly gettable from the clue.
Thanks to both.
