There were certainly a large number of mistakes in this puzzle.
Gaffe, Lapse, Cock-up, Boob, Faux pas, Blunder and Goof, to name but a few.
I couldn’t find any actual error though.
Edit: I provided my own extra error by writing in BLUNDER instead of CLANGER

As I write this blog we are on tenterhooks waiting for the results of the Academy Awards.
I expect The Revenant to sweep the board. It is a brilliant film as you can see from this still:
I’m thinking 7d is “clanger” … and there’s your bell 😉
Oops … meant 4d
Oh dear, I mistakenly found another error that fits the crossing letters and thus blundered into dropping a clanger. Fitting, I guess.
Thanks Anthony.
When I found BLUNDER fitted the theme and the crossing letters I didn’t think it could anything else.
I just thought it was me not knowing who Bell was – probably some buffoon from literature known for always getting the wrong end of the stick. Can someone please write those stories pronto.
Thanks for helping me with my ?s, but especially thanks for the film still. I have to clean my monitor now.
Dumb me!
I had managed to turn 26d into Booh! (Bishop and ooh as a howl) to make a scary ejaculation. I was never happy with this and am grateful for the help to get the correct parsing.
Thank you.
