In 13a, ELI is not reversed. I think backed is used for a better surface and to indicate that C follows ELI.
In 20d, I took “revolutionary” = “rising” rather than “reversal” but that’s neither here nor there.
Thanks to Hypnos and scchua.
Thanks, Hovis. You’re right of course about 13a. It was sort of a knee-jerk reaction on my part to “backed”. Blog amended.
All good fun. My top two were BLISTER and PORTALOO.
Many thanks to Hypnos and to scchua.
Very enjoyable with CRUDITY and PORTALOO being my top two. The dry aperitif put me in mind of those TV adverts fronted by Lorraine Chase!
Thanks to Hypnos and to scchua.
A pleasant Sunday afternoon solve to follow some tricky ones in the past few days. We wondered at first if ‘Eli’ had to be reversed – maybe that was a bit of misdirection? And our first thought for 23dn was ‘curate’ except that we couldn’t parse it of course.
Plenty to like, including SCENARIO, INVENTOR, CAN OF WORMS and PORTALOO.
Thanks, Hypnos and scchua.
