I’m pretty sure I’ve done all the available Indy crosswords of the last five years or so.
And therefore, I must have solved every single Flitwick puzzle at this place..
My memory tells me that I never found them really easy.
However, I breezed through this one.
Almost what we seem to call ‘a Monday crossword’.
It took the slow solver in me only about 20 minutes.
This was a very well written crossword but it felt a bit, let’s say, ‘unexpected’.
Nonetheless, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it.
Many thanks to PeeDee and Flitwick
Indeed, one of the easiest (finished by my second slice of toast) though no less enjoyable for that. The only clues that gave me much pause for thought were the crossers at 20. The word that struck me during solving was ‘elegant’. Thanks Flitwick and PeeDee.
Unlike Sil, I think I have always found Flitwick’s crosswords too easy (not to be confused with Filbert who can be very challenging).
I liked the anagram in 1a. Thought it interesting when looking at 2d that the letters in “aneurism” didn’t seem likely to me for an anagram yet the first word I saw was “Suriname” so there’s at least two.
Yes, a bit gentler than Flitwick’s 6 (by my count) previous offerings. As if to prove that, the Spoonerism was almost my first in. I liked TRIER, a city I first heard of in crossword land, and the ‘copper’s insight’.
The two ‘instruments’ had me thinking that it’s about time someone transposed Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp to SITAR and CLARINET(S). Or maybe not.
Thanks to Flitwick and PeeDee
A straightforward enough solve, although we initially thought 10ac might be ‘tasteless’ (4dn soon put us right). But what are we going to do for the rest of the day?
Thanks, Flitwick and PeeDee.
Thanks Flitwick and PeeDee. An exceptionally quick solve for me, despite entering “tasteless” for 10ac on first pass.
Sorry – crossed with allan_c.
