  1. I thought the prizes had been reinstated for the monthly clue-writing puzzles only?
At any rate, the Guardian website has mistakenly uploaded the pdf for Azed 2538 from 31 January last year, and labelled it 2583!

  2. Not totally sure when the prize came back but I have sent off two already ( not the clue writing ) . It used to be post marked no later than Saturday and was once a two week cycle to get the answer grid in the paper. Not got our paper yet to see if this week has the correct new grid.

  3. The prizes seem to have been reinstated from the beginning of this month. Azed (who has suffered postal delays in Oxford – I’m still convinced that my recent competition entries never arrived!) announced a little while ago that he would extend the deadline for the monthly competitions to “received by Monday” instead of “postmarked by Saturday”. The Observer seems to have followed suit, while still retaining the “postmarked “ criterion. Overseas entrants to the monthly competitions are permitted to submit by email, but those of us in the UK are still dependent on Royal Mail.

  4. I think it’s been about 40 years since I last bothered to send in a completed grid. Prizes tended to be book tokens and have too many books anyway. So I totally failed to notice the re-instatement.

  5. Correct grid now online with “This page was initially published with an incorrect headline and an old Azed grid. This was amended on 30 January 2022”.
